Extracorporeal Shock Wave Lithotripsy Video

This instrctional video on extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy as a treatment for kidney stines is a narrated slide presentation. It not only describes ESWL, but also discusses the causes and symptoms of kidney stones. It is produced by the Patient Education Institute.

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy was introduced in the early 1980s. It provided a revolutionary new treatment for patients troubled by the pain, discomfort and dangers of kidney stones. It meant that many kidney stone sufferers would no longer have to endure uncomfortable (or even frightening) invasive surgery.

This video explains the procedure in more detail.
